Queen Sago is an evergreen Shrub. Like other cycads, the Queen Sago resembles a palm-like appearance, and it produces one or more, usually unbranched stems topped with a crown of large, bright green, glossy leaves, which are arranged in a rosette.

It is a larger and more graceful version of the more common, Sago Palm. In older specimens multiple stems may branch from the trunk. Male and female flowers are borne on separate plants. In late winter, the female plants produce large orange seeds in a cone like structure located in the centre of the rosette of leaves.

Queen Sago fern is becoming popular as a landscape plant and also for growing in containers.
